Valhalla Ladder
Valhalla Ladder
Valhalla Ladder - 3 ft or 4 ft Driftwood Garland. For use indoors or on an outdoor porch. I gather this driftwood from the beaches of the Puget Sound here in the state of Washington.
The Lore: The lore of the Valhalla Ladder derives from the story of the beginning of man... When Odin and his brothers Vili and Vé arrived in Midgard there existed no man. So, they decided to create man from tree trunks that had washed up on the seashore. The Valhalla Ladder lore is... when the Vikings would go on raids and expeditions, they would each pick up a piece of driftwood from the beach and keep it for protection. Upon returning home, the piece(s) of driftwood collected would be added to a string as a garland and usually hung outside the door of the home as a ward. This was also a way to exhibit how many expeditions they had or beaches they had traversed.
