The Urnes Wyrm knot is a design inspired by the Urnes style, a late Viking Age art style (circa 11th–12th century) characterized by its elegant, flowing lines and intricate interwoven creatures. This style is named after the famous Urnes Stave Church in Norway, where such motifs appear in wood carvings.
A Wyrm knot depicts a serpent-like dragon intertwined with itself or other elements, forming a continuous loop or knot. These creatures, often depicted with elongated bodies, curling tails, and distinctive almond-shaped eyes, are symbolic of power, protection, and the cyclical nature of existence. In Norse and Germanic mythology, wyrms (dragons or serpents) often represent wisdom, chaos, or the eternal struggle between forces.
