Where the lava met the water once, the stone remembers the hiss of it... that ancient argument between fire and tide, never resolved, never finished. Birch grows low and stubborn above the waterline, shaped by wind into something that looks like longing. Lichen covers the old rock in colors older than any name. The air carries salt and something beneath the salt, something mineral and deep, that has traveled a long way up from the earth's own keeping. This is the shore the longships knew.
