Herbarium Animæ

There is a house at the edge of the wood where the light comes late and leaves early, and all through its dim rooms the summer hangs drying in the dark.
Everything here began as a seed in my own hand, coaxed up from clean and unpoisoned earth and left to take its own slow time. Each plant I cut at the hour it was willing to be taken, carried in past the threshold the land-spirits keep, and hung from the rafters until the green went deep toward shadow and the scent turned low and old and true.
What waits on the shelves shifts as the seasons turn, for the garden gives only when it is ready to. Herbs dried fragrant for the steeping cup and for the charm folded quiet beneath a pillow… perhaps a tea for the one who would go down into the dark of dreaming and be led back safe by the light. Oils, too, drawn from the same honest harvest and blended slow by hand from the finest organic essential oils, some to be worn like a whispered secret, some to soften and to tend the hair. Into none of them has anything false been folded, nor anything stretched thin to fill the glass. Each was made in its own hour, and each remembers the hand that made it.
So cross the threshold, and leave the daylight where it falls. The jars are watching from their amber glass, and the quiet in this room is the listening kind. Somewhere on these shelves a small thing has been waiting for you longer than you have known to want it… speak softly, wander slow, and let it find you.
Grown, dried, and spoken over… my own hands, my own earth.
